Thai tourist visa

For those who are not eligible for a visa exemption or visa upon arrival, you will have to obtain your visa with the Royal Thai Embassy prior to your visit. Same goes for those who plan to stay in Thailand for a longer amount of time. A tourist visa is valid for 60 days and can be extended for a further 30 days once you are in-country, giving you up to a 90-day per entry.

Thai visa exemption

If you’re from one of the following 48 countries and arrive by air, you’re eligible for a free 30-day stay in Thailand. However, if you arrive by an overland crossing you will be granted only 15 days. There is no fee for a visa exemption. Thailand also holds bilateral agreements on visa exemption for holders of diplomatic, official and ordinary passports for a visit of not exceeding 90 days with Brazil, the Republic of Korea and Peru.

Thai visa upon arrival

If you are not eligible for a visa exemption or if you intend to stay in Thailand you may be eligible for a visa upon arrival. The visa cost is currently 1000 baht. These visas are for the purpose of tourism and for a period of up to 15 days. Visitors who enter the Kingdom with Visa on Arrival generally cannot file an application for extension of stay except in special cases such as illness which prevents them from traveling.
